Our vision is to reduce poverty and end the cycle of homelessness in the lives of our program participants within Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
To serve others through love. To create an environment of outreach that extends love, brings hope and faith in Jesus Christ without exclusion of others beliefs and backgrounds.
John 15:12 – This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
According to the Book of Joshua (in the Bible), Rahab was a woman who lived in Jericho in the "Promised Land" and assisted the Israelites in capturing the city by hiding two men in her home who had been sent to scout the city prior to taking over the land miraculously. In the New Testament, she is admired both as an example of one who lived by faith, and as someone "considered righteous" for her works. Rahab's actions stemmed from knowledge of God's power and faithfulness to the Israelites and required great faith and courage.
Preshuis Williams (Founder) chose the name Rahab's Hope after praying and seeking the LORD about whether she should step out in faith on her desire to launch a charity to provide transitional housing. In hopes to receive guidance, she turned to the bible and it opened up to the story of Rahab. Rahab's story inspired her because she recognized the faith of this woman who provided temporary shelter for the Israelites in need. From that point, Preshuis was determined to include Rahab in the name of the organization.
The establishment of Rahab’s Hope began with an earnest desire to see those living in poverty experience greater abundance. Founded in 2016 by Preshuis Williams, Rahab’s Hope began its service with a mission to provide individuals temporary housing and employment services to pave the way from homelessness to self-sufficient living. In 2017, during the startup phase of the transitional housing program, Preshuis Williams was introduced to a homeless family - single mother with five children. Despite the plans for transitional housing, the board recognized an opportunity to immediately support a family in crucial need of financial support, therefore we provided rental and utility assistance for three months. From that point, Rahab’s Hope was awakened to an alternate option of providing housing through rental assistance services.
